A 7-year-old Facebook feature is being phased out

California: Social media platform Facebook is going to end the Instant Articles feature introduced in 2015 next year.

According to media reports, the technology company Meta, which is a subsidiary of Facebook, said that the main reason behind the move was its insufficient use.

According to a Facebook representative, less than three percent of posts on Facebook are currently linked to news articles. And as it said earlier this year, it doesn't make business sense to invest in things that aren't consumer preferences.

Facebook plans to phase out the Instant Articles feature in mid-April 2023. There are about 37,000 pages using the feature.

Notably, these features load articles 4.9 times faster than web browsers used on iPhone or Android devices.
