Gynecologist Dr. Rabia of Civil Hospital Karachi said that pregnant women are also coming with complaints of high fever due to dengue, after which we instruct them to undergo diagnostic tests for dengue and malaria, the cause of fever. If we fail to reduce fever, increase water, salt and platelet count levels in the infected woman, then it will affect both the dengue-infected pregnant woman and the newborn baby. Life may be in danger.

He said that pregnant women affected by dengue have fears of internal and external bleeding from the womb, brain and other organs and damage to kidneys, while children affected by dengue due to excessive bleeding from the body of pregnant women. It also increases the risk of premature birth, reduced birth zone and miscarriage.

Dr. Rabia said that in such a situation, doctors have to provide protection to both the mother and the child at the same time. In order to control these problems, all relevant specialists including gynecologists, hematologists and general physicians provide medical facilities to the high-risk patients. During pregnancy, due to excess blood flow from the mother's body, platelets are applied; otherwise, doctors try to control the alarming condition only by lack of water and salts.

Dr. Azizur Rahman, hematologist and consultant physician of Civil Hospital Karachi, said that if any infection occurs during pregnancy, the condition of the affected woman may be critical, due to fever, lack of platelets, miscarriage may occur. Dengue virus can be controlled by consuming vitamin D and C deficiency and consuming beverages, but there is no medical proof that it can eliminate dengue virus from the body.

He said that if the platelet count in pregnant women falls below 20,000 and there is a possibility of further bleeding in the affected woman, then platelets should be applied, but the medical experts constantly advise pregnant women to increase the level of water and salts. It is recommended to increase it so that if dengue fever occurs, the situation can be easily controlled.
