Modi government's Hindutva campaign, 500-year-old mosque attacked by Hindu extremists

New Delhi: After attacks on several other mosques including Babri Masjid, the 500-year-old mosque has also become a target of Modi government's Hindutva policy under the Hindutva campaign.

In India, Hindu extremist hooligans stormed a 500-year-old mosque and madrassa in the state of Karnataka. They broke into madrassas and mosques and shouted Hindu religious slogans.

Hindu extremists also performed worship inside the mosque and threatened the Imam of the mosque and the administrators of the madrassa. Despite being present at the spot, the police did not arrest any of the hooligans, as usual supporting the Hindu extremists.

The Mahmood Goan Madrasah of Karnataka was built in the 1460s and is considered a national heritage site.

Prayers of Muslims in various places in India have also been targeted and incidents of threats and violence are being reported against the worshipers in many places besides shouting slogans.
