New amendments to UAE Labor Law, what will be the duration of contract employment?

 The Ministry of Manpower and Emiratization of the United Arab Emirates has said that the Federation has made several amendments in the Labor Law regarding the relationship between the employer and the employee.

According to Emirates Today, the Minister of Manpower and Emiratization, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Awar, said that "the significant amendment is that the employment contract can be made for a fixed period and this contract will be extendable."

The parties may determine the duration of the agreement at will. An employment contract does not necessarily set an extreme limit. By doing so, the rights of the parties will be protected in a balanced manner and will bring stability to the labor market of the Emirates and increase the efficiency of economic competitiveness.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Awar said that the new amendment will fulfill the desired goals of labor law. There will be flexibility in the labor market. It will be attractive for investors and they will be able to get the services of selected skilled and talented people for a limited period.

It will also have the advantage that the operational cost of various projects will be reduced. It will also be possible to use the services of such mercenaries whose employment contracts have expired.
