Rishi Sonak of Indian origin is once again in the race to become the British Prime Minister

Former British finance minister Rishi Sonak has joined the race to become the Conservative Party leader and prime ministerial candidate.

According to news agency AFP, Indian-origin Rishi Sonak met the minimum requirements to run for party leader late on Friday.

On the other hand, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has once again announced his return as the head of the party.

"Honored to be the 100th party member to come forward to support Rishi Sonak," the Tory MP tweeted.

Cabinet member Penny Mordant has already officially announced her candidacy to lead Britain's ruling party following the dramatic resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss.
