Russia's 'use of Iranian drones', Ukraine's sign to cut ties with Iran

Following Russia's Iranian-made drone attacks on Ukraine, Ukraine's foreign minister has said he will propose to President Volodymyr Zelensky to cut diplomatic ties with Iran.

According to the British news agency Reuters, Russia on Monday attacked energy projects and civilians in Ukraine with "kamikaze" (suicide) drones.

Ukraine says that these attacks were carried out by the Iranian-made Shahid 136 drone, while Iran has denied providing the drone to Russia.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Koliba said that Kiev believes that these are Iranian drones and is ready to provide proof to European countries that have doubts.

In the news conference on Tuesday, he said that "Tehran is fully responsible for spoiling relations with Ukraine." I am going to propose to the president of Ukraine that diplomatic relations with Iran should be severed.

He said that the European Union should impose sanctions on Iran for helping Russia to kill Ukrainian citizens. Strict sanctions should be imposed on Iran, because Iran also wants to give ballistic missiles to Russia.

"This action by Iran is appalling and deceitful, because Iran has said that it does not support war and that it will not side with anyone with its weapons."

Yesterday, the foreign ministers of the European Union member states demanded sanctions against Iran over the transfer of Iranian drones to Russia.

On Monday, Ukraine blamed Tehran for the killing of Ukrainians, saying that "in recent weeks, Russia has attacked 136 Iranian-made drones."

However, Iran has denied claims that it has supplied drones to Russia since the start of the Ukraine war, while Russian officials have not yet commented on the matter.
