The West should help the people in overthrowing the Iranian government, the demand of the exiled Iranians

Iranian opposition groups living in exile have called on Western countries to help people topple the government, putting more pressure on Tehran.

According to Arab News, members of the coalition of anti-government parties (National Council of Resistance of Iran) expressed their views in a briefing in the American capital, Washington, saying that Western countries should issue orders to close Iranian embassies and the government. But more restrictions should be imposed.

The series of protests in Iran began about eight weeks ago after the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody over the hijab issue.

Regarding the woman's death, it is believed to be due to police violence, but the Iranian government denies this.

It should be noted that the religious establishment has been ruling Iran since the 1979 revolution. Since then, women have been obliged to follow government orders in terms of dress and wear hijab.

National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) representative in the US, Sona Samsai, told the briefing that the recent protests have surpassed all previous movements and are led by young women who want the regime to be overthrown. .

"What is happening in Iran at the moment, all the characteristics of a revolution are visible."

He called on the United States and the European Union to support Iran's democratic revolution.

American President Joe Biden said this month that human rights should be respected in Iran and the United States stands with the Iranian people and women.

President Biden said, "For decades, the Iranian government has been denying basic freedoms and oppressing the people through violence."

Iranian President Ebrahim Rais has accused the US President of trying to incite Iranians against the government and divide Iranian society under the pretext of human rights.

NCRI Deputy Director Ali Reza Jafarzada says that Iran's Revolutionary Guards are currently trying to crush the protests and prevent them from spreading further.

"Hundreds of reports that we have received indicate that the Revolutionary Guards officers in plain clothes are severely torturing the protestors."

He further said that 'they target the head of the protestors or stab other organs in such a way that they cannot participate in protest activities any more.'

Alireza Jafarzada also said that Iranian officials have also killed several prisoners who protested against the government in the notorious Awain prison.

On October 15, 2022, the Revolutionary Guards Special Forces assigned to the security of the Supreme Leader attacked the prison and killed 40 prisoners. The attack was pre-planned, on this occasion some prisoners were also thrown from the roofs.

It should be noted that after this incident, an Iranian government official said that there was a fire in the prison and the prisoners died due to the smoke.
