A fire in a high-rise residential building in China kills 10 people

Ten people have died and nine have been injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in China's northwestern region of Xinjiang.

According to the news agency AFP, a fire broke out in a high-rise building on Thursday night.

China's official news agency Xinhua has said that "10 people died despite emergency medical assistance."

Nine people have been injured in this incident, but their condition is not serious.

According to Xinhua, an investigation into the incident has begun.

It should be noted that severe fire incidents have occurred in China before.

This week, 38 people were killed and two were injured when a fire broke out in a factory in the central Chinese city of Anyang.

Officials say that safety measures were not taken by the workers during electric welding which led to the fire in the factory.

After the incident, the police have arrested several people, who are being investigated.

Remember that in 2015, at least 173 people were killed in a chemical warehouse explosion in China.
