Meta's decision to lay off 11,000 employees

California: Technology company Meta has decided to lay off 11,000 employees.

The company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced in a blog post that he was optimistic about the company's growth during the Covid outbreak.

Zuckerberg said that at the beginning of Corona, the world immediately turned to e-commerce, which increased the income tremendously. Many predict that this increase in income will be permanent and will continue after the outbreak. He also predicted the same, so decided to increase the investment. Unfortunately, it didn't work as well as expected.

Zuckerberg said the company would be more streamlined while cutting costs and employees and shifting most resources to a limited number of high-priority areas, including advertising, artificial intelligence and the metaverse.

Meta said it laid off about 87,000 employees in September, and today's announcement marks the first such mass layoffs since the company was founded in 2004.
