 Beijing: The number of patients due to the new wave of corona virus in China has increased to a record while the authorities have also imposed several new restrictions.

According to Al Jazeera's report, the Health Commission in Beijing recorded more than 31,000 new cases across the country in the last 24 hours. The number is the largest increase since the chaotic early days of the pandemic.

Officials said the number of cases was recorded at 31,444, far higher than on April 13, when the commercial hub of Shanghai was placed under a two-month lockdown.

Meanwhile, Shanghai announced that travelers arriving in the city will not be allowed to enter restaurants or shops for five days.
