Installation of S-400 missile system near India's Pakistan border begins

In view of threats from China and Pakistan, India has started installation of S-400 air defense system in Punjab sector near Pakistan border.

On Tuesday, several Indian sources, including the news agency ANI, said that the first squadron was being set up in the Punjab sector. The batteries of the system are capable of avoiding air hazards from Pakistan and China.

The missile system equipment is coming by air and sea and will soon be installed at designated locations.

The arrival of the first batch of S-400s, part of the Russian-made defense system, will be completed by the end of the year, and will be operational in the next few weeks.

Once installed, the Indian Air Force will focus on the eastern border and provide resources for personnel training in the country. Several officers of the Indian Air Force have already received training in Russia regarding this Russian system.

The ground-to-air strike system will give India an air superiority in South Asia and enable it to target enemy aircraft and ships from a distance of 400 km.

The S-400 air defense system consists of four different missiles that can intercept enemy warplanes, ballistic missiles and AWACS aircraft from a distance.

It has a range of 250 km in medium range and 120 km in short range. It may be recalled that in November, Russia started supplying S-400 air defense missile system to India.

According to the British news agency Reuters, the supply of Russian defense systems has put India at risk of US sanctions under the 2017 US law aimed at preventing countries from buying Russian military equipment.

On November 14, Dmitry Shogayev, head of the Russian Military Cooperation Agency, said "supplies have begun."

He said that the first unit of S-400 system would reach India by the end of this year.

Agreements were signed in 2018 for five زمین 5.5 billion long-range surface-to-air missile systems, which India says are needed to counter the threat from China. ۔

India faces numerous financial sanctions from the United States under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

Russia has been described as a rival to North Korea and Iran over its actions against Ukraine, its interference in the 2016 US election and its support for Syria.
