Following the defeat of Australia by Japan, Saudi Arabia has qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar this year.
Japan beat Australia by two goals in a match played in Sydney on Thursday.
Japan not only won the match against Australia but also secured the first position in Group B with 21 points thanks to two goals scored by Japanese player Karo Metoma.
Japan is two points ahead of Saudi Arabia in the points table, while Saudi Arabia will play a qualifying round match against China on Thursday.
However, Saudi Arabia is three points ahead of third-placed Australia, with only one match left for Australia, which will take place next Tuesday in Jeddah.
With this, the two teams that have qualified for the World Cup from Group B have been decided. Australia, the third-ranked team in the group, will face the UAE, the third-ranked team in Group A, in the play-offs.
Saudi Arabia's qualification for the sixth World Cup is a sign of the team's better preparation. Today's matches against China in Sharjah and next week's matches against Australia are the beginning of the Saudi team's preparations for the mega event.
