The UAE's first flying ship is about to become a reality.
According to the Emirati news agency WAM, a memorandum of understanding has been signed at the largest and most popular marine show in the region for the local preparation of the boat.
The hydrogen-powered boat X-Pearl was invented by a French firm called Sea Bubble. The boat's flagship model H2 was unveiled at X-Pearl's Dubai Harbor.
The company hopes to fly limited editions of the boat along Dubai Creek, the Dubai Canal, or the Abu Dhabi Corniche before the World Environment Conference Cup 28 takes place next year.
During the 28th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show, progress has been made in realizing this dream, while Sea Bubbles has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Al Masood Power Division.
Under the agreement, the two sides will review the performance of the hydrogen-powered boats and their pilots, whose manufacture and operations will take place in the UAE.
Virginia Sewarat, vice president of Sea Bubbles, said the boat could fly with 12 passengers and one pilot.
Considered environmentally safe, this boat can also be used for sightseeing.
"The Dubai International Boat Show, which takes place two years later, is about to usher in a new era, and is about to launch something new and exciting in partnership with Sea Bubbles," said Rasobarten Schlegger, General Manager, Al Masoud Power Division. ۔ '
