Afghanistan Two bomb blasts have killed at least 11 people, including six children

KABUL: At least 11 people, including six children, were killed in two bomb blasts in Afghanistan's Herat and Helmand provinces.

According to Afghan media, two bombs exploded at a playground in the Afghan city of Herat while teenagers and children were playing there. Two more bombs were planted in the field, which were defused by bomb disposal personnel.

Two simultaneous bomb blasts in Herat killed a child and five youths, while three boys were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The condition of the injured is said to be out of danger.

In the southern province of Helmand, a mortar shell was hurled at a playground which was considered useless by children and at the same time the shell exploded with a loud blast as a result of which 5 children were killed.

Taliban militants cordoned off the area after both incidents. The bombs that exploded in Herat were landmines.

Keep in mind that Afghanistan, a war-torn country for decades, has a network of underground mines, the victims of which are usually children.
