For the first time in history, the 1st of Muharram was changed to cover the Kaaba

 Makkah: The process of changing the cover of the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram has been completed.

According to the Ministry in charge of the affairs of the Holy Mosques, the Imam of the Kaaba and President of the General Presidency of the Holy Mosques, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, also participated in the ceremony of changing the cover of the Kaaba.

Hundreds of pilgrims present in Masjid al-Haram saw the spiritual scene of the transformation of the Kaaba and offered prayers. More than 200 experts and trained workers, including the key bearer of the Kaaba, organizers, Saudi authorities and managers of the Kiswah factory, took part in the change of the cover of the Kaaba.


The cover of Kaaba is called Kiswah and it consists of 16 pieces in total. Kisoh is 50 feet in length and 35 to 40 feet in width.


The ceremony of changing the cover of the Kaaba was held every year on the 9th of Dhul-Hajj, but this year, the date was changed and it was announced that the cover of the Kaaba would be changed on the 1st of Muharram.
