Election Commission of Pakistan has de-notified 11 MNAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the notification issued by the Election Commission on Friday, it has been said that 'after the approval of the resignations by the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Election Commission of Pakistan immediately de-notifies these members of the National Assembly.'
The PTI MLAs who have been de-notified include Ali Muhammad Khan from NA 22 Mardan, Fazal Muhammad Khan from NA 24 Charsadda, Shaukat Ali from NA 31 Peshawar, Fakhar Zaman from NA 45 Kuram Ek. Khan, Farrukh Habib from NA 108 Faisalabad and Brig (retd) Ijaz Ahmad Shah from NA 118, Jameel Ahmed Khan from NA 237 Malir Karachi, Muhammad Akram Cheema from NA 239 Korangi Karachi, Abdul Shakoor from NA 246 Karachi South. Apart from them, Dr. Shireen Mazari and Shandana Gulzar Khan have also been de-notified from the reserved seats for women.
Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had written to Chairman PTI Imran Khan and other members of the party in the National Assembly to confirm their resignations in May.
Earlier, Acting Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri had announced to accept the resignation of 123 members of Tehreek-e-Insaf on April 14.
A gazette notification was also sent to the Election Commission to declare the seats of these members vacant, but later the new Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf announced a re-examination of the resignation process.
After the end of Imran Khan's government in April this year, out of 155 members of PTI, apart from 20 defected members, 12 other members did not resign.
