Hackers attack messaging app Signal, users' phone numbers leaked

California: Private messaging application Signal has been targeted by hackers. Users' phone numbers have been leaked after the app was hacked.

According to media reports, as a result of the attack carried out by the hackers, the phone numbers and SMS codes of 1900 users were exposed. Which means hackers can potentially register these accounts on new devices.

Signal being hacked is also a concern because it is recommended for use by anyone who needs to keep their messages highly secure.

According to reports, this cyber attack was not directly on Signal but on Twilo. It is a separate company that provides services to developers. Signal employs this company to verify users' phone numbers during the sign-up process.

Last week, Twilo announced that it had been hacked. The attackers gained access to customer data by accessing the company's internal systems. The hackers entered the system and attempted to access three accounts and successfully registered one account.

Signal says they have ended the attackers' access. Those affected by the attack will receive messages asking them to re-register and have their accounts terminated on any device they use.
