India has introduced the first double-decker bus powered by electric technology for public use.
According to the news agency AFP, these electric buses have been launched from the Indian city of Mumbai.
It is expected that 200 electric double-decker buses will start plying on the roads of Mumbai from December this year.

India, a country with a population of 1.4 billion, is the third largest carbon emitter.
The Indian government has committed to zero carbon emissions by 2070.
The aim of introducing electric buses for public use is to reduce pollution in cities where the air quality is very poor.
Switch Mobility, a subsidiary of Indian company Ashok Leyland, has developed these electric buses.
Earlier in 2014, electric double-decker buses made by the same company were also launched in London.
Mahesh Babu, chief executive of Switch Mobility India, said that they want common people to use electric buses to meet the target of zero carbon emissions.
65 passengers can travel in this electric double decker bus developed in India.
It may be noted that around 900 fuel-powered double-decker buses were introduced in Mumbai for the first time in 1937.
These buses became obsolete over time and now only less than 50 are still seen plying on the streets of Mumbai.
