Authorities in Taiwan have claimed suspicious drones flying near their islands and a cyber attack on the Ministry of Defense website.
According to the Reuters news agency, Taiwan's Ministry of Defense made this statement on Thursday, a day after the visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which angered China.
China has launched military exercises in the area in response to Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, which Taiwan's defense ministry says is 12 miles from its territorial waters.It is the first time Chinese forces have conducted exercises so close to Taiwan that a senior official at Taiwan's defense ministry described as a "sea and air blockade of Taiwan."
The Chinese government considers Taiwan a part of its country, while the United States and Europe recognize it as an independent democratic country.
China's military exercises near Taiwan are drawing worldwide reactions.
ASEAN foreign ministers have said that tensions over Taiwan could turn into an 'open conflict'.
On the other hand, the diplomatic chief of the European Union has condemned China's military exercises and said that such exercises are not justified in response to Nancy Pelosi's visit.

According to China's news agency Xinhua, the military drills will use ammunition and are taking place in the sea with Taiwan.
