Lightning strikes during competition in Greece, athlete burns to death

 One athlete has been killed and another seriously injured after being struck by lightning during a night trail mountain racing event in Greece.

According to local police officials, the athletes who were struck by lightning were taking part in a night trail mountain racing competition at an altitude of 1,340 meters on the 6 peaks of Mount Falkrow in Greece.

According to officials, 55 athletes were participating in the night track mountain racing event, most of them had reached the finish line when the incident happened.

According to police, two athletes were struck by lightning during a 22.2-mile racing event near the town of Paraguay, in which one athlete was killed on the spot while the other was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.

According to the authorities, the athlete who was injured in the incident of lightning is still in critical condition, he is being given medical assistance.
