Russia may launch a heinous attack on Ukraine's Independence Day: President Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russia could do something heinous during the week of the country's Independence Day.

According to the news agency AFP, the Ukrainian president has asked his citizens to beware of Russia's heinous work on the occasion of the country's 31st Independence Day.

Ukraine will celebrate the 31st year of independence from Soviet rule on August 24.

Meanwhile, new explosions have occurred in Crimea, a region of Ukraine occupied by Russia, while 12 civilians were injured in a missile attack near a nuclear power plant.

The President of Ukraine said in an address to his citizens that they should not fall victim to the "frustration and fear" that Moscow is spreading.

"We should all be on guard this week that Russia might do something really nasty and evil," he said.

Ukraine's second largest city, Kharkiv, will be under a full-day curfew on Wednesday to mark Independence Day. Curfew is enforced from 10 pm to 6 am on normal days.

The governor of the city of Kharkiv, under constant Russian shelling, has asked citizens to heed the alarm and stay at home.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense has alleged that Ukraine has poisoned some of its military personnel, to which Ukraine has said that the alleged poisoning may have been spread by Russian forces eating expired canned meat.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, on July 31, in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, some of the personnel of their forces were taken to the hospital, where a medical examination revealed that there were dangerous toxic substances in their bodies.

"Chemical terrorism approved by the Zelenskyi government, Russia is preparing supporting evidence with the results of all analyses," according to a Defense Ministry statement.
