Seven injured, two in critical condition after firing on bus in Jerusalem

As a result of firing on a bus in the city of Jerusalem, Israel, seven people have been injured, two of them are in critical condition.

The French news agency AFP, citing Israeli police and health officials, said that a man suddenly opened fire on the bus and later escaped.

According to the police, the area has been cordoned off and the attackers are being searched for.

Israel's Emergency Medical Services Megan David Adom (MDA) has described the incident as an act of terrorism.

MDA officials said that "We reached immediately after receiving the information about the incident and saw the passenger bus standing in the middle of the road. The two seriously injured persons are around 30 years old."

The bus driver, Daniel Kinowiske, told reporters that the incident happened near the tomb of King David.

The driver said, "I was coming from the Western Wall area, the bus was full of passengers, as soon as I stopped the vehicle at the Tomb of David station, the shooting started immediately."

He further said that 'with the firing, I saw two people falling out of the bus while two were covered in blood inside the bus, which caused chaos.'

Since March, 19 people have been killed in Israel, most of which were carried out by Palestinians.

Three Israeli Arab attackers were also killed in the same period.

Last week, fierce fighting between Islamic Jihad and Israel took place in Gaza and at least 49 Palestinians were killed, including Islamic Jihad fighters, and children were also killed in the violence.

The fighting ended last Sunday when Egypt signed a ceasefire agreement.
