Surplus sugar in country, should be exported: Sugar Mills Association

 Chairman Pakistan Sugar Mills Association says that if the government does not take an immediate decision to export sugar, it will be difficult to pay the farmers.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Chairman Pakistan Sugar Mills Association Zaka Ashraf said that Pakistan has produced a record 8 million tons of sugar this year, 2 million tons of surplus sugar was made by sugar mills while the monthly consumption is 5 lakh tons.

He said that 90 rupees per kg guarantees the price of sugar, at present there are 2 to 3 million tons of surplus sugar, the production cost of sugarcane has increased so the surplus sugar should be exported immediately, China is willing to buy our sugar.

Zaka Ashraf said that the talk of tax evasion is old, FBR has all the records, the government should take important decisions in time to save the industry from the crisis, we can give 2 billion dollars of foreign exchange to Pakistan immediately.

He further said that we have nothing to do with politics, but in the interest of the country, there should be an immediate policy on surplus sugar.
