Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee has approved the lifting of the ban on the import of luxury goods.
A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee chaired by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail was held in which the ban on the import of all luxury items was approved.
The ECC recommended release of goods arriving between June 30 and July 31 after the ban was lifted and directed to release imported goods after recovery of surcharge.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the ban on 860 items including vehicles and mobile phones has been lifted, while these items belong to 33 different categories.
The federal government had imposed a three-month ban on May 19 and the decision to lift the ban on imported goods was taken on the demand of trade partners.
