At least 15 migrants who entered Libya from Sudan have been found dead on Libya's desert border with Sudan.
According to the AP news agency, Libyan authorities, while reporting the latest tragedy, said that many migrants are seeking a better life in Europe through the dangerous desert route.
The agency has further informed that nine other migrants have been rescued in this caravan of refugees while two people are missing in the desert.
Among the refugees were women and children, but the agency did not say how many there were.
The cause of death of the migrants has not been revealed, but it is said that they apparently lacked the required amount of food and water.
The report further states that all the people in this convoy belonged to Sudan, it should be noted that Sudan has been a country suffering from unrest for years.
The migrants are said to have traveled to western Libya in an attempt to reach Europe, possibly on boats used for smuggling.
The agency posted photos on social media purportedly showing the bodies of dead migrants who were later burned in the desert.
Al Kafra officials have said that this is the second major tragedy of its kind in the large Libyan desert after June.
Earlier in June, the bodies of 20 migrants were found in the same area, after the migrant car crashed near the border with Chad and died of thirst in the desert. It should be noted that in recent years, Libya has emerged as an important transit point for migrants fleeing their country, fed up with war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East.
Human traffickers have taken advantage of the chaos in Libya in recent years, taking advantage of Libya's long border with six countries to divert migrants to other countries.
Many migrants are put in poor rubber boats and sent to other countries by human smugglers through the dangerous sea route.
