The first confirmed case of transmission of monkeypox from humans to animals has been reported

Paris: The first confirmed case of human-to-animal transmission of monkeypox has emerged, with a pet dog diagnosed in France.

According to media reports, the four-year-old Italian greyhound's owners took him to a Paris hospital on June 10 after developing blisters on his body, where they learned that their pet dog was suffering from monkeypox.

Owners said they took precautions to prevent their dogs from mixing with other people and animals when they developed symptoms of monkeypox.

Within about two weeks of the owners being exposed to the viral disease, their dogs began to show signs of monkeypox.

The dog was examined at Soubon University in the French capital, where researchers diagnosed it with the same epidemic disease as its owners.

It should be noted that monkeypox has infected more than 1700 people in France.
