The new Dubai Film Festival will be held in October

 Dubai's Great Minds Events Management Company has announced the launch of Meta Film Festival, which will be held from October 27 to 29 at the Vox Cinema in Nakheel Mall, Dubai.

According to Arab News, the festival is billed as the first private sector and industry stakeholder-led film festival in the Middle East and Africa and promises red carpet premieres and awards ceremonies. It comes five years after the last edition of the Dubai International Film Festival, which was held annually from 2004 to 2017.

The festival will conclude with an awards ceremony where awards will be given to films in seven categories. The categories are as follows: Best Arabic Feature Film, Best International Feature Film, Best Animation Film, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Student/Youth Film and Film Development Fund Award.

Meta Film Festival is accepting nominations on its website. In this regard, a selection committee has also been formed, which includes the managing director of Vox Cinemas and the head of OSN Studios, who will make the final decision regarding the films.
