Mexico City: A 7.6-magnitude earthquake jolted the southern region of Mexico and scared citizens ran out of their homes and offices into the plains.

A hospital, a residential building and a gym were severely damaged by the tremors. Two people were buried under the debris when the upper floor of the gym collapsed. Dozens of people were injured in various incidents including poles, trees, hoardings falling.
Residents have been moved to safer places from the buildings affected by the earthquake. More than 10 thousand people lost electricity. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 15 km in the coastal area.
After the earthquake, waves of 3 to 9 feet high were generated in the sea, on which the US agency issued a tsunami warning. Citizens have been instructed not to go to the coastal area while fishermen have been prevented from going to the sea.
