The UAE has for the first time provided virtual work visa facility for foreigners. This type of Iqama will be issued to foreigners who will be able to work online from abroad while staying in the UAE.
According to Emirates Al-Youm newspaper, the virtual Iqama issued to foreigners will be valid for one year. Meanwhile, they will be able to perform online services from any country while staying in the UAE.
Digital Government's Virtual Iqama project is providing an opportunity to experts and highly skilled people from all over the world who specialize in any profession and will be able to continue working in their previous profession while living in Dubai.
Such persons will also have the advantage of being able to work while living in their home country and in the Emirates at the same time. Virtual Iqama will continue for one year with the possibility of extension.
It is mandatory for the applicant to possess a valid passport with an expiration date of not less than 6 months. In addition, at the time of application, they must also obtain medical insurance equivalent to the duration of their stay in Dubai.
If the applicant is employed in a company or institution, he must provide proof of this. Nature of work, one year employment contract, payslip, salary that he/she is getting not less than 5 thousand dollars in any case, 3 months bank statement also has to be submitted.
Aspirants who want to get virtual Iqama, if they own a company, they have to submit proof of ownership of the company, which also shows that their monthly income is not less than 5 thousand dollars in any case.
Those who come under the program can avail all the usual facilities in Dubai including opening of bank account, access to telecommunication services and education etc.
Application for virtual Iqama can be uploaded on the digital government portal.
