The protests and riots that have erupted since the tragedy have spread to more than 80 cities and towns, and the widespread unrest has shaken Iran.
Meanwhile, the Iranian police commander warned on Wednesday that those involved in the protests that began almost two weeks ago over the death of a woman in custody have been sternly warned and will be dealt with severely.
The police chief has said in a statement that the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and some miscreants want to disrupt the peace, security and tranquility of the nation under any pretext.
According to Iran's Fars News Agency, the police officers said that they will fight against the plots of anti-national elements and revolutionaries with all their might and deal strictly with those who disrupt public order and security.
The Fars News Agency report has made it clear that around 60 people have been killed so far due to the riots that broke out after the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16, but the official figures put the number at around 41.
Official sources have said in the report that more than 1200 protesters have been arrested, including various social activists, lawyers and journalists.
Labor protests have also increased in Iran in recent months amid declining living standards for ordinary people as Western sanctions weigh on the economy.
