Kuwait: The list of successful candidates for the National Assembly continues, including two women

After months of political deadlock in Kuwait, the list of candidates who won the National Assembly elections has been released.

According to Arab News, thousands of citizens were present at the polling stations who elected 50 members out of 305 candidates for the next four years.

These candidates include 22 women who have contested on five different constituencies.

Previously, Kuwait's parliament consisted of only male members since the loss of the only female candidate in December 2020.

According to the results released by the Kuwait News Agency, only two women have been elected.

The results of four constituencies have been released, while the Kuwaiti government has not officially released the list of election winners from the fifth constituency.

This is the sixth election held in Kuwait in the last ten years. Kuwait is the only Gulf state with a fully elected parliament.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah dissolved parliament in June after disputes between parliamentarians and the government.
