A fault in Bangladesh's national power grid left most of the country without electricity.
Officials of the Bangladesh Power Development Board said a transmission line faulted somewhere in the eastern part of the country.

He said that experts are trying to determine where the fault occurred and what caused it, but it may take several hours to restore power.
He said that power would be restored in Dhaka by 8 pm (Bangladesh time).
The Bangladeshi government had already shut down all diesel-powered power plants to cut down on import costs, leading to power shortages.
Due to the shutdown of diesel plants, Bangladesh faced a power shortage of 1500 MW.
