New Delhi: Eight officers, including two retired commanders of the Indian Navy, have been detained in Qatar for two months and the unaware Modi government came to know about it through a woman's tweet, after which the Indian Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs started running.

According to Indian media, 8 officers, including commanders of the Indian Navy, have been detained by the State Security Bureau in Qatar for almost two months. This was revealed on Twitter by a woman, Dr. Mitu Bhargava.

Dr. Meetu Bhargava in his tweet mentioned the top leadership including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which brought this matter to the knowledge of the sleeping Indian government, but still the performance is limited to verbal submissions.

According to the information received so far, these 8 retired Indian Navy officers were working in Al Zahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services in Qatar, but it is not clear on what charge they were detained.

Among the arrested former officers of the Indian Navy is Commander Parinanda Tiwari, a recipient of the highest military award, who was awarded the honor in 2019 by former President Ram Nath Kond.

A top diplomat of the Indian government told the media that the Indian embassy in Doha is in touch with the local administration in Qatar and is trying to find out what the problem is.

The diplomat added that the case of ex-Navy officers is being looked into deeply and all attention is focused on the safe return of these officers.

Al-Zahira Global Technologies and Consultancy Services and the Qatar government have not commented on the arrest of Indian retired navy officers and the company's website is also down.
