Pakistan's well-known anchorperson Arshad Sharif has been shot dead in Kenya.
On Monday morning, Arshad Sharif's wife Jawaria Siddique confirmed his death in a tweet.
"Today I have lost a friend, my husband and my favorite journalist," Naha said. According to the police, he was shot in Kenya.
The Islamabad High Court has ordered the Interior Secretary and the Foreign Secretary to immediately contact Arshad Sharif's family.
The Supreme Court ordered to take steps to bring Arshad Sharif's dead body to Pakistan and has also asked for a report by Tuesday.
Asim Iftikhar, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, says that the Pakistani High Commission in Kenya is receiving the details of the incident from the Kenyan authorities.
President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Arshad Sharif.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also expressed his condolences to the family while deploring the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif.
Pakistan People's Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also expressed regret over the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif.
According to the statement issued by the Pakistan People's Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the killing of Arshad Sharif is an irreparable loss for the journalist community of Pakistan.
The Foreign Minister said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in touch with the Kenyan authorities regarding the murder of Arshad Sharif.
Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has also expressed regret and said that he is in touch with the Kenyan government to find out the facts related to the incident.
He said that the Pakistani embassy in Nairobi is providing full support in the case of Arshad Sharif.
Arshad Sharif left the country after the arrest of PTI leader Shehbaz Gul. He was associated with ARY News for a long time where he used to host a program called 'Power Play'.
After his departure from the country, his organization said in a statement that "Arshad Sharif has no connection with the organization anymore."
Salman Iqbal, CEO of ARY News, has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Arshad Sharif in a tweet.
"I still can't believe it," he said. I have no words.'
Arshad Sharif received the Pride of Performance Award from the President of Pakistan on 23 March 2019 for his services in journalism.
