Over the past week in Saudi Arabia, investigative teams have arrested more than 12,000 illegal immigrants from different regions of the kingdom for violating the rules of residence, work and border security.
The official news agency SPA said with reference to the report of the Ministry of Interior that "investigative operations continued from September 22 to 28, 2022, in which 12 thousand 436 illegal immigrants were detained."
According to the report, 6 thousand 911 migrants were found guilty of violating Iqama rules while 3 thousand 249 foreigners were arrested for violating the border limits. Two thousand 276 migrants have been detained for violating the labor law.
198 people were arrested illegally crossing the border of Saudi Arabia, of which 35% were Yemenis, 55% were Ethiopians and 10% were citizens of different countries.
In addition, 44 people have been detained while trying to cross the border of Saudi Arabia illegally.

The statement said that legal action is being taken against 47 thousand 388 illegal immigrants. Among them, 44 thousand 362 are male and 3 thousand 26 are female.
36 thousand 984 did not have travel documents. They have been given an opportunity to approach embassies to obtain documents while the travel process of 2,559 is being completed. 8 thousand 28 have been expelled from the kingdom.
It should be noted that providing travel, residence or employment facilities to illegal immigrants in Saudi Arabia is a legal offence. Severe and various punishments are prescribed for it.
Anyone who facilitates the entry of illegal immigrants into Saudi Arabia will be punished with 15 years in prison and a fine of 1 million riyals.
In case of providing various facilities to those who enter the country illegally, the vehicle and the house used for residence will also be confiscated and the person responsible for the violation will also be advertised in the local media.
