When disabled, the Saudi officer started shooting

The former Saudi National Guard officer did not let his physical disability stand in the way of success and mastered marksmanship.

While giving an interview to Saudi TV Channel One, the former official of National Guard "Muhammad Al-Shami" said that his right hand was disabled due to being a victim of terrorism, on which he took premature retirement from the National Guard.

Mohammad Al-Shami added, "I thought a lot about what to do after retirement to keep myself busy and not let my disability stand in my way. I wanted to do something that was impossibly difficult." I thought of shooting and took the final decision.

The former National Guard officer added that 'when it was decided to shoot archery, everyone forbade it and said that it would not be possible to draw the arrow with the other hand after putting the arrow in the bow.'

One day, a seminar was held at King Saud University under the Saudi Shooting Federation. The delegation of the Federation was led by Captain Mashal-ul-Otaibi.

After the seminar, I requested him that I want to learn shooting. Captain Meshaal al-Otaibi did not forbid me in front of everyone. Actually, they didn't want to discourage me. He asked me for a meeting.

He said that later he met Captain Al-Otaibi, in which he, seeing my disability, said that 'this task will be impossible because after putting the arrow in the bow, it is pulled to aim, while the right hand is completely disabled.'

However, seeing my passion, they helped me. Invented a new technique whereby the practice of stringing the bow with the teeth began.]

Muhammad Al-Shami said, "During the training, Captain Al-Otaibi and the Greek trainer encouraged me a lot and guided me at every opportunity, due to which I was able to master shooting today."
