A religious leader of the Indian extremist organization Shiv Sena was killed in broad daylight in Amritsar

In India, a leader belonging to the Hindu extremist religious organization Shiv Sena has been shot dead in broad daylight.

According to the French news agency AFP, 58-year-old Hindu extremist leader Sudhir Suri was killed in the northern city of Amritsar in India.

"The attacker shot and killed Sudhir Suri in public," Aran Pul Singh, a police officer from Amritsar, told AFP.

According to the police, the attacker was arrested on the spot and he was also in possession of a licensed weapon.

According to local media, Sudhir Suri had hurt the sentiments of the minority community by making derogatory statements about the Sikh religion, after which he was also protected by the police.

Sudhir Suri was targeted when he was protesting against the dumping of Hindu deities on a garbage dump.

In 2020, the Sikh community in India and abroad accused Sudhir Suri of making defamatory statements against Sikh women and religion, after which he was taken into custody.

On the basis of the same allegations, the Hindu leader was again arrested in July this year.

It should be noted that during the last few years, there have been many incidents of killings on the basis of religion in Amritsar.

Also in September, a man was killed in broad daylight in Amritsar on the grounds that he was drunk and chewing tobacco near the Golden Temple.
