'Democracy is at risk', US midterm election polling

 Before the start of polling in the mid-term elections in the United States, President Joe Biden has said that democracy is in danger and now is the time to save it.

According to the news agency AFP, in a speech to a rally of his supporters in the state of Maryland, President Biden said, "We know that our democracy is in danger and we also know that this is the time when you is to be saved.'

"We will be successful in this time," he said.

Security measures have been stepped up in several states ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections, and officials have said they will crack down on any attempt to intimidate voters.

These are among the most eagerly watched midterm elections in recent years, where millions of Americans will cast ballots to elect national, state and county officials.

Governors of 36 states will also be elected during the mid-term elections.

In some areas of the state of Arizona, where the Republicans and Democrats are in tight competition. Officials said security measures have been taken for polling and counting of votes and any interference will not be tolerated.

According to officials in the state's Maricopa County, security has been doubled during the election.

This is the same area where Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election after gaining a lead.
