Footballer arrested in Iran for criticizing the government

 Tehran: A football player who criticized the government was arrested in Iran.

According to foreign media, Voria Ghafouri was arrested by Iranian security forces after a training session at a local football club. Iranian authorities

detained 35-year-old footballer Voria Ghafouri on charges of propaganda and criticism against the Iranian government. It is also accused of supporting counter-protests.

Vooriya Ghafouri was included in Iran's squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but he was dropped from the team just in time.
