The Federal Agency for National Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates has said that "residents can extend their residence and identity cards online."

Residents coming to the Emirates can also identify themselves to foreign airlines through it. At airports, the system of airlines has a passport reader facility through which its reading is possible.
The federal agency says that 'Iqama and ID card issuance can be done easily by completing a common form through the smart app or website http://smartservices.icp.gov.ae'.
According to the federal agency, the start will be by registering and setting up an account. In case of pre-registration, access to e-services will initiate the process.
In the next step, one has to select the Iqama Permit and Identity Card issuing service and then apply and revise the obtained data. It has to be updated and the fee submitted. Finally, the Iqama Permit or Identity Card must be received through a registered postal company.
The federal institution said that "In the application for renewal of Iqama permit or ID card, it is necessary to check the ID card or Iqama permit number".
Apart from this, it is also necessary to be satisfied as to when the date of its effectiveness ends.
The federal agency says that foreigners residing in the UAE can print their residence details online. This work is possible through the institution's website or smart app.
