INDIA: Sunny Leone's photo on hall card of exam candidate in Karnataka, case filed

A case has been registered after a picture of actress Sunny Leone was published on the admit card of a candidate for the recruitment of teachers in the Indian state of Karnataka.

According to a report in India Today, the Karnataka Education Department has filed a complaint with the police that Sunny Leone's photograph was replaced with a female candidate's photograph on the admit card of the Karnataka Teachers' Eligibility Test 2022.

Officers of the Shivamuga Cyber Unit have started an investigation into the incident.

Shivamuga SP Mithan Kumar GK told the media that Chanappa, the in-charge of the examination center, has lodged a complaint with the education department officials at the CEN police station.

"We will investigate it thoroughly," said the police officer.

The candidate belonged to Koppa area of Chikmagalur district and had applied for the post of teacher in Shiva Amuga. He participated in the aptitude test on Sunday.

According to officials, the female candidate downloaded her hall ticket at the cyber center to appear in the exam.

Earlier, the government had said that the education department is not responsible for this mistake.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Karnataka Congress social media chairperson BR Naidu on Tuesday alleged that the state education department had printed former adult film star Sunny Leone's picture on the hall ticket instead of the candidate's picture.

Responding to Naidu's allegation, the office of BC Nagesh of the Education Department said in a statement that the candidate has to upload a photograph. Whatever image they attach to the file, the system picks it up.

"When we asked the candidate if she had uploaded Sunny Leone's picture on her admit card, the reply was that her husband's friend had uploaded her information," according to the statement.
