Kuwait; Execution of 7 people including Pakistani in murder case; Including 2 women

 Doha: For the first time since 2017, 7 people were hanged on the order of the court in Kuwait.

According to the international news agency, the court sentenced 2 women and 5 men to death after being found guilty in a murder case in Kuwait, and the criminals were executed together today.

Among the persons who were hanged were women from Ethiopia and Kuwait, one Pakistani, one Syrian and three Kuwaiti men. Their names and other details were not disclosed.

Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Adviser on Legal Affairs Ghanim Al Ghanim said that the criminals were involved in serious crimes including murder. who were sentenced to death under Kuwait Law 16 of 1960 after strong evidence and confession.

However, he did not tell the details of the cases, provisions and hearing of the accused, nor was anything told about the date of the incident, the motive and the victim, but he said that the accused were given full legal rights.

Despite the strong criticism, objection and demand of international organizations, the law of death penalty is maintained in Kuwait and it is also implemented. Earlier in 2017 also, 7 people including a prince were hanged.

Similarly, in 2013, five people were hanged for murder within a span of two months.

It should be noted that since the first execution on May 17, 1964, 84 people have been executed in Kuwait, including 15 Pakistanis.
