Second fire in Baghdad airport in 48 hours

 An investigation has been launched after the second fire in Baghdad airport in 3 days, while the Prime Minister dismissed 3 top officials of the airport for negligence in their duties.

According to the foreign news agency "AFP", there were no casualties in the latest arson incident, but several airline offices were damaged in the two-story Nineveh terminal.

According to officials, the Iraqi prime minister visited the airport for a briefing on the investigation launched after the fire. According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister, he relieved the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority, the Director of Baghdad International Airport and the Director of Airport Security from their duties.

The Prime Minister questioned the non-functionality of the automatic fire extinguishing system and also ordered a probe into the mechanism of the agreement, which had been non-functional since 2013.

He further said that the persons responsible for the incident should be identified.
