Arshad Sharif's death has also been declared a murder by the Kenya Human Rights Commission.
Speaking to Geo News, Martin Maven Jina of the Kenya Human Rights Commission said that Arshad Sharif's murder was clearly planned.

He said that the position of the police is weak that the killing of Arshad Sharif was due to mistaken identity, the vehicle in which Arshad Sharif was traveling is used only by important people.
He said that it is also clear that those who shot at Arshad Sharif were trained.
He said that having documented two decades of human rights abuses by the Kenyan police, the Kenyan police are notorious for extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.
