Afghanistan's Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has said that "Afghanistan is currently going through a great human tragedy, and the international community should help the Afghan people without any political bias."
According to the French news agency AFP, in a video statement released by the state media on Friday, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said that at present people in many places do not have food, shelter, warm clothes and money. The Taliban's deputy prime minister added that "the world must help the Afghan people without any political bias and fulfill its duty of humanitarian sympathy."
In recent days, most parts of central and northern Afghanistan have been covered with snow, while the southern part of the country has been affected by floods.
Mullah Baradar said the "worsening weather conditions have added to the suffering of the people." He added that the Taliban were ready to distribute international aid across the country.
It should be noted that after the Taliban took control of the country in August last year, the international community froze Afghanistan's assets.
International aid agencies have warned that half of Afghanistan's 38 million people are at risk of starvation, while the country's inflation and unemployment rates are rising sharply.
It should be noted that no country has yet formally recognized the Taliban government, and diplomats face the dilemma of ensuring that aid reaches the ailing Afghan economy without supporting the Taliban.
