Authorities in the US state of Arizona have arrested a man accused of cruelty to animals.
According to the Associated Press, 183 dead animals were found in a freezer in the garage of accused Michael Patrick Trland. Some of these animals were frozen alive.
A statement from the local police office on Thursday said police and animal control officers discovered the animal in a garage freezer on April 3 following a complaint from a woman.
The woman complained that Michael Patrick Trland had taken her for breeding snakes, which he did not return.
According to the police statement, the frozen animals included dogs, rats, rabbits, lizards, turtles, birds and snakes.
"It looks like the bodies of many animals were frozen alive."
The homeowner allegedly discovered the frozen animals while cleaning after evacuating the property of Michael Patrick Trland and his wife.
The owner then contacted the woman who informed the police.
The accused was arrested from his house on Wednesday. He admitted during interrogation that "some animals were kept in the freezer while they were alive."
