66-year-old German tourist detained in Iran

 The German Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday saying that a German tourist has been detained in Iran.

According to Reuters news agency, the detained German refused to give further details other than that he was receiving consular assistance.

A 66-year-old German man was arrested in Iran about a month ago for taking pictures in an area where photography is prohibited, the Farsi service of Iran's Radio Liberty reported on Friday.

Iran's interior ministry was not immediately available to comment or provide details on the German man's detention.
