A woman lost lakhs of rupees after clicking on a WhatsApp message

 A retired teacher from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh lost around Rs 21 lakh from her bank account after receiving a WhatsApp message from an unknown number.

According to foreign media, police say that Varalakshmi, a retired teacher living in Anamaya district of Andhra Pradesh, fell victim to cyber fraud after receiving a WhatsApp message from an unknown number.

According to Varalakshmi, a few days ago she received a message on WhatsApp with a link attached. They clicked on the link after which various transactions took place from their bank accounts.

The woman says that the criminals withdrew a total of 21 lakh rupees from the bank account by making several transactions of 20, 40 and 80 thousand Indian rupees through cyber fraud.

Varalakshmi has filed a complaint with the cybercrime police.

Police said that the woman received a message on WhatsApp, as soon as she clicked on it, several messages came from the bank saying that the amount has been deducted from her account.

However, when the woman contacted the bank officials, they said that her account had been hacked
