American governor also reached Taiwan, 'interests are shared'

A US state governor met with Taiwan's president on Monday, days after the US announced that it would open trade ties with Taiwan and protect it from threats from China.

According to the French news agency AFP, Republican Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb arrived in Taiwan on an "economic and development visit" on Sunday.

At the beginning of this month, after the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, there was a serious tension in the relations between China and the US.

China had threatened the United States and started military exercises near the Taiwan border, but a few days later, a congressional delegation visited Taiwan, which once again angered China and conducted military exercises.

Taiwan authorities also accused China of violating the border limits.

Remember that Taiwan is a neighboring country of China which China claims as its own while Taiwan declares itself as an independent country.

Taiwan has faced threats from China as Chinese officials say that "parts of our country will be taken back one day, even if we have to use force."

China's handling of Taiwan by any Western country's authorities continues to be harsh.

In a meeting with Indiana Governor Eric, Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen referred to China's military exercises and emphasized that like-minded countries should continue to support Taiwan.

He said that 'at this time we are facing the expansionist ambitions of global dictatorship.'

According to Sai Ing Wen, "We are also facing threats from China in the Taiwan Strait, the time demands that the democratic allies stand with us and cooperate in all sectors."

On this occasion, Governor Eric Holcomb said that the United States and Taiwan share mutual values and interests.

According to him, 'we will continue to build a strategic partnership with you.'

It is also expected that before leaving for South Korea on Wednesday, Holcomb will also meet with the country's leading industrialists.

Apart from South Korea, Taiwan also manufactures the world's smallest computer chips, which are considered very important for electronics products, but their supply in the world is very limited.

The United States wants Taiwanese companies to set up plants on its territory, and President Tsai has made some such concessions in Monday's meeting.
