New Delhi: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were arrested during anti-government protests in India.
According to Indian news agencies, the police stormed the opposition party Congress's protest against the Modi government's policies and inflation in India. The police also detained other leaders including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. According to the videos circulating on the social media website, Priyanka Gandhi was dragged into the car by the female officials.
During the intervention of the police, the Congress leaders tried to move forward and during this the police started lathi charge on the protestors. During the clash, the police detained the Congress leadership and other leaders. Earlier during the protest, Rahul Gandhi while talking to the media said that democracy is dead in India. He said that what was built in 70 years was finished in 8 years.
Rahul Gandhi said that we want to discuss rising inflation, unemployment, efforts to divide society and other bad policies in the House, but we are arrested for speaking the truth.
It should be noted that Section 144 is in force in the capital in view of the protests by the opposition parties, while the protests were started despite the ban by the Congress.
